Thomas Albert "Tom" Sears Jr., 80, of Upper Marlboro MD died Sunday July 30, 2017 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC.

Tom was born March 11, 1937 in Washington DC to the late Thomas Albert and Evelyn Lillian Jones Sears.

He was a graduate of Frederick Sasser High School in Upper Marlboro MD and attended the University of Maryland in College Park MD.

Tom worked in the field of computer systems and information technology for over 20 years...

Thomas Albert "Tom" Sears Jr., 80, of Upper Marlboro MD died Sunday July 30, 2017 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC.

Tom was born March 11, 1937 in Washington DC to the late Thomas Albert and Evelyn Lillian Jones Sears.

He was a graduate of Frederick Sasser High School in Upper Marlboro MD and attended the University of Maryland in College Park MD.

Tom worked in the field of computer systems and information technology for over 20 years supporting government agencies and corporations. He was employed as System Analyst and Program Manager by the Prince Georges County Data Processing Department. Following that he was involved in breeding thoroughbred race and performance horses at his farm in Upper Marlboro MD.

Prior to his career in data processing Tom served in the United States Air Force.

In addition to his professional accomplishments Tom had a wide range of interests. Following his love of flying he became a private pilot and owned his own plane. He was also an avid gardener and ham radio operator. He remained involved with computers and electronics throughout his life. But he especially enjoyed socializing with his friends and loved ones.

Survivors include long time partner Meredith Jean Paddock Senasack of Silver Spring MD, nephew Daniel Thomas Currin III of Prince Frederick County MD, nephew Michael Sears Currin of Sharpsburg MD. Sister Shirley Ann Sears predeceased him in 2009.

Memorial services will be Friday August 11, 2017 at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home in Bowie MD. Visitation will start at 10 AM with service following. Burial will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery Bentwood MD.
